2014 NYC Marathon - 3:03:31 / 7:00 & CPTC Benefit @ NYAC

Net Time: 3:03:31
Pace: 7:00
Rank: 920

Definitely not my best race.  After 3 times sub 3-ing in my hometown marathon, the streak has been broken.  Considering the conditions, and recovering from a viral infection since the Staten Island Half, I've come into terms with the result.  It definitely wasn't smooth sailing like the rest of my marathons. Although I felt I was in great racing shape, I felt a bit lost throughout the race and couldn't focus with health issues dealing in my family.  Getting through this race with personal variables was really tough and adding the force of mother nature made it much harder.  (I remember trading drafting duties for the first half of the race with my teammates!)  This was the most emotional race for me as I completely broke down on mile 23-24.  This was the location where my parents especially my dad was there screaming his heart out for me.  Different story this year as we hit a bump in the road the day before the race with the oncologist.  By the time I past the finish line, I simply lost it.  Luckily I had my teammates/friends at the end of race supporting me.  Overall, it wasn't my best effort but I laid it all out there to finish with dignity.  Marathon sunday is always a great day regardless and it gave me some time for myself to reflect and think about my pops.  Nevertheless, I will train harder to get ready for Boston 2015.
