2013 Chicago Marathon - 2:55:34 / 6:42

Net Time - 2:55:34
Pace - 6:42
Age Grade: 71.14%
Rank: 576

Despite being sick a week earlier, managed a 58 sec PR.  It was certainly an ideal weather situation with cool temperatures and low humidity.  My race strategy was to stick to a consistent pace through mile 20 and see what I have left in the tank.  Luckily I was able to run with my teammates K & K which made the first 18 miles, a breeze.  We hit the first half quite comfortably at 1:26 and change.  The latter miles was ok but exerted more effort to maintain a certain pace.  Things started to go downhill quite quickly by mile 24 but mentally kept telling myself that I have just a few miles to go and maintain under 7:15 and nab the PR.  I crossed the finish line in 2:55:34.  I was  ecstatic because I was able to keep it together and looking back, this was my 6th consecutive week of racing.  There's definitely some peers who ask why do we race so much....I think the amount of racing really helped me in the last few miles and just to remain mentally tough race-wise.  It was a great racing day for me, however I'm even more happier and ecstatic that all my CPTC teammates...all 14 of us ran amazing races (all 8 of our men ran sub 3s and all the ladies ran PRs); just very proud of them.  So far a great year with my 8th sub 3, 33rd road marathon and 9th PR of the year.  Next up, NYC...no regrets!
