2010 NYRR Brooklyn Half Marathon - 1:23:29 / 6:22
Pace: 6:22
Rank: 82/7006
Age Grade: 70.9%
I remembered in 2007, the brooklyn half was my comeback race. Three years later, the brooklyn half helped me quietly crack the 70+% AG mark. After consecutive weeks of racing (NJ Marathon, Newport 10K, Ragnar Relay), I knew I had to take it easy this week so my legs would remain fresh. To be honest, I had no plans on gunning for a PR. However, once the race starts, all preconceived notions goes out the door and I had to run depending on feel. With the weather being oh so perfect, I felt great out there. I kept telling myself that if I'm able to hit a 1:26 split in Boston and wind up with a sub 3, I should be able to sub 1:25 at a half. It was until mile 9-10 (??) when Reese passed me (who is a speed demon btw), I knew if I kept hitting sub 6:30 per each mile, I should be able to PR in this race. That's basically what I did-
I gotta' give a huge thanks to all my friends, jud, teammates, for their support for me in training with a new team (thanks tony!) since early April. Also, I'll use this race to keep reminding myself that even though I had a horrible marathon in Dirty Jersey, I was able to block this mental debacle and PR at a 10K and half marathon afterwards. Never give up!
Congrats to all the finishers out there as well!

Anyway, congrats on a great race and another PR! I'm glad we were able to chat for a little bit before the race. Best of luck to you in this next chapter of your running life :)
