It wasn't pretty, but I'll take this PR. The wind gust was unsettling, my right hamstring was bothersome and almost stepping on one of the two dead RATS was very fitting. On hindsight, fucking deal with the wind Moz...all the runners are dealing with it as well...On top of that, I had a wipeout on mile 7. My foot got caught on another runner's foot and tripped. He was alright and eventually past me on mile 8. I paced with Kimi of CPTC for the latter part of race until I struggled for the last mile. Lastly on mile 11.5, I was tired and deluded as I accidentally knocked-off 6-7 cups of gatorade...In quickness of my haste, I screwed up! Damn, I'm such a shit magnet sometimes!

Out of the 5 Grand prix's, the Bronx was never my favorite half. Although it was a PR, I didn't run a smart race as I struggled with the gusts most of the time. On mile 9, I heard my training partner Kieran on the other side of the concourse cheering me on. That pushed me a bit since he always pass me on mile 4-6's. Hence to be ahead of him on mile 9, gave me some confidence. On hindsight, it was all luck since he's injured and still ran an insane 1:31. FOCKER!

I think if I slowed down a bit on the first 5 miles, I could have gradually pick up my pace at the end. Overall, I need to stop letting the nerves get to me and learn to relax running in these distances.

Took the train with Scott of TRD this morning and totally forgot to pay my membership. Damn it! Just to let you guys know, the moment I stepped into my apartment after the race, I desperately opened a bottle of Smithwicks. For one thing, I just needed a bottle of beer to relax and secondly I think I should reward myself :) Heck, I'll take this PR!

Cheers,
Moz

Fast one! Good work... and thanks for commenting over at my blog. I can't decide if it's (a) disillusioning to think of triathletes as not being particularly fit or (b) reassuring because it confirms my hope that I will be able to do them perfectly well myself! It is true that I have often consoled myself with the thought that many triathletes are truly awful swimmers... some of 'em don't seem to run very much or fast either... and this means it's OK that I'm a terribly inexperienced cyclist! Good luck with coming races...

Great Race! Congrats on PR! Your time would probably been a few seconds faster if it wasn't for that crazy wind.

I didn't get my mile 10 split either, I think mile marker blew away. So I just kind of guessed at my split for that.

Saw a dude running with a mini hand mic, sounded like he was doing a podcast while running. He had a strong british accent. Going to surf around today to see if I can find it online.

Don't worry about it, man. You still ran a great race. Just think, no matter how bad you think you had it, the rats you almost stepped on had it worse.
