MORRISSEY @ PHILLY MANN CENTER 7/23

Despite the PNC Arts and MSG cancellations, after seeing Morrissey last nite at the Philadelphia Mann Center, I can die a happy man now. Since the Smiths, Morrissey is my favorite artist of all time. The music, the lyrics...it's amazing...the isolation, the depression...that's his appeal...viva Morrissey! :)

We left work at 4:45pm to drive to Philadelphia. Surprisingly, traffic was not bad from the west side highway to Holland. However, once we reached 78 West going into NJP/I95, that is when tourettes started kicking in. The congestion was pretty insane going towards exit 12 on the turnpike. Not to mention, another bottleneck kicked in with an accident by a FedEx truck.

After passing the accident, it was smooth sailing. That is when you can floor the accelerator to 95-100. Of course even if you are on the fastlane, you always encounter douchebags going in the 70s...this is when the high-beaming and extreme tailgating comes in handy.

We managed to get to Philly Mann Center around 8:20pm. We missed the opening act, Kristeen Young. But honestly, do we really care??!? Not really! We are here to see Morrissey!!! Going into the concert, we were hungry...and unfortunately they only served vegetarian dishes! Eff me! Hence, pretzels will do. While waiting for the Mozzfather, we just saw clips of James Dean, Nancy Sinatra and etc

Moments later the Moz was on staged and opened up with the Queen Is Dead. Throughout the concert, I was pretty much in my own little world and despite a few hiccups on the first 3 songs, the rest was probably the most special 1.5 hours of my life! As much as I loved Travis', Snow Patrol or Coldplay's performance, I'm willing to trade them all just to see one Morrissey show. This man is a legend!!!!! Every song in the setlist was memorable but the part when he sang "At Last I Am Born" then "Life is a Pigsty" (w/ Auld Lang Syne)and quickly to How Soon Is Now? brought me some chills. In addition, "please please please" is such an amazing song. Furthermore, the band was astonishing.

Morrissey was quite chatty as usual and extremely interactive with the crowd. The crowd was pretty tamed except for a douchebag who started to smoke, and girl who skanked it up to get close to the stage.

We got home around 2ish and I went to bed at 3am. I was really restless and just reminiscing the concert; hence didn't get much sleep. Suffice to say, although it took us 3.5 hours to see Morrissey I'm just thinking about the random people you meet from Seattle and a group who drove for 8 hours just to see him. Now, those are die-hard fans! But I can assure you that this would not be my last Morrissey concert...the best is yet to come....MORRISSEY for President...viva morrissey!!!!

Cool pictures. I went to see him in Atlantic City on 24th. Good show, but slightly different set list. I hope he comes back in the fall.
