It certainly wasn't the ideal condition to PR in, but at least I got 13 miles under my belt. The rain was a factor in the beginning, but it wasn't an issue after the first mile. But standing and waiting in the cold was not that fun either. Hence, I went on to retrieve my shirt, which was pretty cool btw. The 20 minute waiting game before the start of the gun was putting all the runners in torture mainly because the rain wouldn't stop! Near the start of the race, I chatted up a bit with Andrea and Uptown. I felt pretty bad for them as they were waiting for their bib and chip under the crazy rain; yet there was like 10 minutes before the start. Then I headed to the 7 mile marker where I met up with Mog who just ran another friggin' loop before the race - that crazy guy! Ok, so the first two miles was pretty hard meandering through the bottleneck. My Norwegian shirt was already soaked and it felt extremely heavy. I had no choice but to chuck on the lawn near descent on Harlem Hill. I'm gonna kick myself in the head cus that is actually one of the cooler shirts out there. EFF! Next there was this runner who ran with the highest kicks and would simply be doing backsplashes on the runner behind him. That runner didn't even dodge any of the horse dung on the pavement and I felt bad for the runners behind him. Heck, I totally avoided that focker. Until the middle of the race, the 'rents surprised me again as I saw them on the 6 mile marker cheering me on. From miles 7 through 10, I paced with a runner from CPTC whom I see during the Long Training Runs. During Mile 10 and afterwards I paced with three other runners, one from Brooklyn RRC, a female run wearing a red top and some guy with a triathlete uniform. Until the last mile, I spotted and passed Charles (a TRD member) as he posted a great result; I guess.....Anyway i'll just zip it 'cus it is 'NOMB'......

Despite a sharp twinge on my right hamstring, I felt like I ran a pretty consistent pace throughout the race. I have one more race before the ING NYC Marathon which is the 18 miler tuneup, since I have decided to skip the Staten Island on 10/15.

Going back a few days before, I made a quick pit stop on Thursday @ the Auction House for a Reservoir Dogs happy hour. After two jack's, I headed downtown to meet with buddy Lucifer and Nothingspecial to watch David Poe @ CBGB. He was alright...

Friday was the same deal as we made a quick pit stop at Red Sky Lounge, which was around my hood for nyflygirl's bday party (Happy B'day btw). I finally got them shots- heck i owe nyflygirl and uptown shots ever since boat basin! Then at 7:45pm, off we went to Fig & Olive on 62nd and Lexington rsvp'ed at 8. The food was pretty good, the price was extremely reasonable and the service/ambiance was great. After dinner, for the first time we actually hung out in FOREST HILLS. Yup, we just checked up on our friend's coop in rego park before heading to The Billiard Company. Basically the point is, you can still have fun in Forest Hills!

Aloha and Cheers,

Moz

dude-cotton and rain do not mix! where was your dogs singlet?

BTW-it seems that the BRRC guy you were pacing with is the "rock and roll loser" I have made mention to on my blog occasionally. Next time, please leave his candy a$$ in the dust :)

nice job...and good seeing you Friday-thanks for the shot!!

Yeah it wasn't a good time at that point when you saw Andrea and I at the start. Yet once it got going it was fun in that really off the wall way. And yeah you still owe me that shot from my birthday;) next time!

ha ha I forgot about all the horse dung.. I myself avoided that like the plague, not knowing how slippery it may be when wet.. And a high-kicker may be bad, but try racing behind a guy who grunts painfully every 2nd step.. I was exhausted, but it was enough motivation to run under a 7 minute mile for the last mile..
