NY Mets Run to Home Plate
Official Results for the NY Mets Run to Home Plate (5K):
Net Time: 20:01
Pace: 6:27
Rank: 191/2161
AG: 64.4%
Unofficial Splits:
Mile 1- 6:09:14 (feeling good)
Mile 2- 6:35:21 (slowed down a bit)
Mile 3- 6:36:85 (dying......!)
This race was really special because my buddies Kaz, Jun, Ace, Ghetto, Anchi (TRD) and Drools (who flew in from North Carolina) joined me in this race! I was glad to share this experience with them.
My previous 5K was a 20:09/6:30 during the Mother's Day 5K. Today I was able to shave off only 8 seconds, despite favorable weather conditions. A sub 20 was always in the back of my mind. However, I try not to think about it too much for the fear of a jinx....what do you know, I'm a shit magnet eh?
Although it was a PR, I missed subbing 20 by 2 seconds. I was disappointed at first, but hey, it is only a race and there's plenty of races in the future.
Congrats to my team (mog, semplib, uptown, paul, jgo, erin, seb, bap, andrea, louis-new dog) for pulling great times in the hot and humid weather.
Another big congrats to Anchi who paced at an 8:58 and Drools with a 7:48 pace/61.1 AG!!!!!!!!
Aloha and Cheers,
Moz

Congratulations on the PR... Sub 20 is just a strong finishing kick away. I see a 19:50 for you next 5k.
Congrats on the PR! Sub 20 is a definite once it's not 90 billion degrees and on a course that doesn't have so many darn turns!! Consider also 8 seconds in a 5k is HUGE...the weather was not ideal for PRs...running on that asphalt was like running in an oven:-p
yes, i too think you will sub-20 your next 5k. unfortunately, i dont think nyrr has any 5k's left for the rest of 2006...
congrats on the PR yesterday!!
Congrats on the PR. That's fantastic time for a course you (I assume) didn't know and the weather. Okay, that's a fantastic time anytime. :)
josh/uptown/nyflygirl/chelly/semp- Thanks for your support- I really appreciate it! You guys are awesome motivators! Hopefully I can turn things around on the club championships after my failed attempts for a PR at Dash and Splash! Thanks guys - you rock!
Moz,
Thanks for the good words on my site. You're right, the heat was definitely a factor.
Are you running the Fifth Avenue Mile? Last year that boosted my speed and helped me run a minute faster in the Sept Corp Challenge Champs than I did in the June Corp Challenge qualifier.
Paul
