Duncan Sheik and Vienna Teng @ Spiegeltent 8/17/06

Duncan Sheik and Vienna Teng
Venue: Spiegeltent/South Street Seaport - Pier 17

This was my 7th or 8th show ever since I've been a Duncan Sheik fan in '95. Let's see here...1995, I was in 9th grade at Parsons Junior High School. Damn time flies! As far as the show goes, at the start, there were some minor problems with the sound system (ie. Nothing Fades), but nevertheless, he put on another awesome show. After 4 Spigelites in the beer garden and one heated argument with a bastard blocking the bar, I don't recall the order of the setlist; but here it goes:

Nothing Fades
Wishful Thinking
Good Morning!
For You
Magazines
Dawn's Request
She Runs Away
Genius
Start Again
Such Reveries
Star-Field on Red Lines
White Limousine w/ David Poe
Hey Casanova
Home
Fake Plastic Trees

Duncan partnered with Vienna Teng and her performance was what I expected it to be. If memory serves me right, she used to play at the Living Room in LES several years ago. She definitely has a huge chinatown following (jk). Quite frankly, while waiting on line, I told mike, "holy shit, there's a bunch of asians tonite!" After a few seconds later (of delayed reaction - aided by beers and several chemically induced kosher-dogs) I realized that they were here to support Vienna. Her voice was often shrill and a hybrid of Sarah Mc, Bic Runga or possibly Tori? I heard of her earlier material since "Waking Hour" but haven't got in touch with her new stuff.

Yes and one more thing, it was definitely good to see Alison again. It was a total bummer that the Downtown in Farmingdale had to close down. That was a spectacular venue.

Anyway Sheikspeakers, i only snapped 30-35 pics. Please enjoy-

Aloha and Cheers,

MOZ

Then he gave me this stupid look and i was like "you stupid f*ck". Finally I got my beer. Boy was i thirsty!
